Lead Organizer

Location: Boston, MA

Summary:

POSITION TITLE: Lead Organizer
ASSIGNMENT: Boston
CLASSIFICATION: Permanent

Job Description:

Previous experience with a healthcare institution, as a Union Organizer, Delegate, or Activist preferred. Ability to work with people, from diverse backgrounds and cultures; Demonstrated leadership skills; Ability to work independently, solve problems, and manage time and priorities; Demonstrated ability to communicate and lead staff in a way that develops skills and supports team work; Good computer skills; Willingness to work long hours, including nights and weekends; Good listener; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Job Qualifications:

  • Design and develop organizing campaigns including message, calendar and staff development.
  • Supervision and training other Organizers on the campaign; including responsibility for daily debriefings.
  • Run multiple team campaigns simultaneously as needed.
  • Plan committee meetings and charting all organizing campaigns.
  • Making recommendations regarding the viability of campaigns, decisions to continue/withdraw from campaigns, etc. to the VP and/or Organizing Director.
  • Direct interaction with attorneys at hearings; Act as liaison with media.
  • Recruit Member Organizers from the institution or agencies..
  • Performed other related duties as assigned.
  • Reach out to build coalitions with various community groups and leaders.
  • In conjunction with the VP and/or Organizing Director, evaluate staff during and after each campaign.
  • Participate in Union-Wide activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
